Next class will be October 23, 2021. Join the discord, come sail on Mondays or Thursdays. Make sure to get on a boat for Terlingua regatta and come volunteer at the Pirates junior regatta. I am certain we will be moving our times earlier in the day as the evenings become shorter and the weather becomes cooler. I will let everyone know. In our last class we setup the boat on the dock and we all practiced gybing the pole on the foredeck. We also practiced sets and douses with the spinnaker as well. Everyone got a chance to play on the new Clifford boat. Looking forward to getting on the water and us setting up some bouys we can sail around next class and rotate the crew into different positions as we sail around performing tacks, sets, gybes, douses, and mark roundings.

September 4th 2021 class: We had 10 participants and we went over how to rig the J24, followed by the procedures of tacking the genoa. We then went out on 2 boats and everyone practiced tacking the genoa out on the water. We also went upwind and paced the two boats against each other. We spoke about how to see if a boat next to you is faster or slower by looking at the forestay and whether the trees were moving in or out of the forestay of the boat you are speeding with. We went over looking at the water and seeing the puffs and lulls and what wind puffs look like on the water. We also talked about trimming the genoa on a reach and how to read the tell tales. Ease if the outside tell tails move around and trim if the inside tell tails until they are both flying straight back.
